  • There are three Priority Development Areas within the Gladstone Region - Clinton, Tannum Sands and Toolooa. The Department of State Development, Tourism and Innovation maintains a register independent of Gladstone Regional Council's register of current and decided Development Applications within the Priority Development Areas, visit Economic Development Queensland for more details.

    The Gladstone State Development Area (GSDA) was declared in 1993 and is 26,934 hectares of land suited for large-scale, large footprint development. Development Applications within this area are assessed by the Office of the Coordinator General.

    The Gladstone Ports Corporation is the regulator of development on strategic port land which must comply with the requirements of the Land Use Plan and associated codes. Development Applications within this area are assessed by the Gladstone Ports Corporation.

    Gladstone State Development Area & Gladstone Ports Corporation development applications in these areas are NOT assessed by Council.
